Hello again! Thank you for being here x
We are beginning to plan for some events to happen alongside the exhibition which as you might know is in Leamington Spa, from 31st January 2025 until 11th May 2025, and we thought you might like to know about them and perhaps join in the fun!
The Private View will be on Thursday 30th January, and although that one is by invitation, the following day (Friday 31st - Opening Day) there will be a talk at the gallery by the curator Abigael Flack and me, Annabel Rainbow. We’re not quite sure what form it will take - perhaps a power point followed by a quick canter through the work with plenty of opportunity to talk about techniques etc. It’s only short (30 mins) but I’ll be around for a while afterwards just in case we run over. The talk is designed for a lunch time and will start at 1pm in the gallery.
The day after that Saturday 1st Feb there will be a Meet The Artist Day to which everyone is of course invited. We’d love to see you. So far, Stephanie, myself, and Jennie Moncur have confirmed. It’ll be very relaxed and we’ll just be around to chat to you individually about what you’re seeing, what we’re doing and what you’re doing, maybe techniques, that kind of thing. We’re hoping we might be able to squeeze in a few adhoc demos too!
If you can’t make it, but still want to chat, then more days have been arranged for: Saturday 22nd March, Saturday 12th April, and Saturday 10th May. I will have my sketchbooks with me to show you how an idea can lead to a finished piece, as well as bringing my sewing machine to show you my processes.
There will be another of those short Friday Focus talks at 1pm on 4th April. This one will be about samplers, and they’ll be some examples from the collection to see.
If you can’t make it to anything, not to worry as we are at the moment, trying to arrange for podcasts and youtube videos so that you will still be able to see the stunning work that’s been done, and not miss out.
It’s going to be an amazing exhibition with lots of new work by fabulous artists, and we’re all really excited to be able to share it with you.
Thanks for reading. Stay tuned to find out more as things develop!
